Technical Data:
The "Rolling Text" concept, with the accompanying "alternate-text" labels and pop-up alternative-text windows (such as the window are reading now) has been developed over several years to provide an instant synopsis or summary of "what you will find on this website" clearly presented on the entry page of each of the BarrierFreeChoices websites to facilitate quick navigation by users of BFC's Information Service.

This "rolling text" presents the basic concept of a particular website in one place, reducing scrolling, which helps avoid confusion and makes it possible for almost anyone to quickly find what they really want.

Since some people who use BFC's service may have a visual impairment or physical disability (such as arthritis) which could present challenges in website navigation, we try to design our navigation process for ease of use, especially by those individuals with minimal skills in "surfing the 'net" to maximize accessibility for the widest variety of users.

SCREEN RESOLUTION:
BFC websites are designed for viewing at 800 x 600 pixel screen resolution, thus minimizing the need for "side-to-side" scrolling by visually impaired users, or those using older computers.

If your monitor is adjusted to display at a higher screen resolution, you may notice blank areas at the sides of your screen on most of our pages.

BROWSER COMPATIBILITY:
BFC websites are designed for use with Microsoft Internet Explorer, and are backwards-compatible for IE versions 5 through 7. Our sites are also regularly tested for compatibility with current and recent versions of Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Google Chrome, and Opera.

FLASH TECHNOLOGY:
We use minimal "flash" technology and no "cascading menus" on our websites, as studies have shown these features can have adverse effects on viewers with certain neurological disorders, and also reduce accessibility for visually-impaired websurfers using text readers. We try to inform our users in advance (if we know) whenever we link to web pages that contain "flash" content.

COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS:
We welcome input from our users, and we read them all (even though it may sometimes take a few weeks to reply). Please direct your comments, requests, and suggestions to:
